Job Description

Job Summary: This position works as a member of a multidisciplinary team on a federal government contract supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The individual will handle the database design and administration in SQL.

• Full-time position • Contract lasts 1 year at full-time with potential for a 1-year extension at part-time • Reports to Project Manager and Database Task Leader and works with two other developers and Business Analyst

Minimum Qualifications: • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field recommended; may substitute equivalent work experience for degree • 3-7+ years database development and administration experience • Strong/expert level T-SQL skills and experience with replication and log shipping • Strong experience utilizing SSIS and SSRS • Data warehouse and dimensional modeling experience • Experience with SSIS/ETL processes • Understanding of Agile and other software development best practices • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities: • Participate in a small agile group and accurately estimate tasks and provide feedback regarding project impact. • Manage and control all daily operational activities related to database management and administration. • Assist the software development team in managing performance issues in all custom code released to the production environment. • Perform database upgrade and patch activities. • Perform data migration and cloning activities. • Monitor and tune the database and associated applications and systems for optimal performance. • Manage application and database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages, concurrent managers and procedures in a QA/TEST Database environment. • Perform backup/recovery of databases and develop contingency plan for disaster. • Monitor and report database capacity and performance metrics. • Assist in the evaluation of software addition and/or upgrade as required to maintain performance standards and databases. • Document Database Setup and administration of Server Environment. • Drive continuous improvement while insuring that all application systems and procedures are planned, built, maintained, executed, etc. in accordance with company standards.
