Data Visusalisation Web Developer

last updated June 19, 2021 11:08 UTC

I’m publishing https://ourworldindata.org – A web publication that presents the empirical evidence of how living conditions have changed around the world until now. The project is based at the University of Oxford (UK).

For this web publication I’m looking for a web developer with a focus on data visualisation (d3js experience is essential) to help expand the capabilities of the web site and visualisations.

In terms of employment we are exceptionally flexible. The web developer could even work remotely.

Skills & Requirements

  • Very interested and experienced with online data visualization – especially with the visualization of time-series and panel data.

  • Very good knowledge of Javascript and D3.js and Backbone.js, or another MVC framework.

  • Knowledge of NVD3.js, and datamaps is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, WordPress and ideally Laravel.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Pragmatic and organized.

  • Design experience.

  • Enthusiasm for development economics, economic & social history, and communication of research.

  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and print publishing is an advantage.

  • Would be great to see examples of your work, either open-source or from code you can send us over for review.

It’s a small project and you will share the responsibility to make it a more useful open access, open source publication.
