**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Provide legal advice and counsel to internal business teams on matters including insurance, warranties, finance, and corporate law.
2. Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and other legal documents that support APD’s business with dealerships, producers, agents, and lenders.
3. Work effectively across Protective’s businesses by building and maintaining strong working relationships to achieve results.
4. Under the direction of the Vice President, Senior Counsel, support the legal department’s efforts related to the strategic development, implementation, and monitoring of new products, services, programs, and other initiatives.
5. Research state insurance and finance laws and regulations, and prepare memoranda for management and/or company staff on their applicability or impact when needed.
6. Perform other job duties and special projects as assigned.

**Professional Specifications:**
– Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
– Currently admitted to a state bar and in good standing
– Minimum 10 years of experience in insurance or other regulated financial industries and legal settings; knowledge of F&I products (vehicle service contracts/GAP) and involvement in related industry programs is preferred
– Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Ability to work effectively with others and coordinate with cross-functional teams
– Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite

**Contact With Others:**
– Internal: Sales, Operations, Compliance, Accounting, and Product teams
– External: Outside counsel representing business partners and counsel representing consumers

**Supervision/Subordinates:**
– TBD—may involve managing 1–3 attorneys and senior legal analysts

**Compensation and Benefits:**
Protective’s target salary range for this position is $160,000–$190,000. Actual pay may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and experience. The range listed is only one part of Protective’s overall compensation package. The role may also include additional annual incentive opportunities based on individual and company performance.
