Position Summary
The Superintendent is responsible for managing and coordinating all on-site activities for assigned construction projects. This includes overseeing subcontractors, enforcing safety and quality standards, maintaining schedules, and ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of construction field operations and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities
Field Supervision & Execution
- Manage day-to-day job site operations, ensuring smooth workflow and productivity.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field labor.
- Enforce adherence to project drawings, specifications, and quality expectations.
Schedule Management
- Assist the project team in developing and maintaining the construction schedule.
- Monitor daily progress and implement adjustments to stay on track.
- Communicate scheduling needs and conflicts to the Project Manager.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce safety policies and OSHA standards.
- Conduct daily safety meetings, site inspections, and maintain safety documentation.
- Identify and correct unsafe work practices immediately.
Quality Control
- Perform daily inspections to ensure work meets or exceeds quality standards.
- Identify and address any construction deficiencies or non-conformities.
- Assist in punch list development and project closeout.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate daily logs, including labor, equipment, weather, and progress.
- Report job site issues, delays, or changes to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
- Assist with RFI and submittal coordination as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; additional training or certifications in construction management preferred.
- 5–8 years of experience in commercial or industrial construction, including 2+ years as a Foreman or Assistant Superintendent.
- Experience working on projects in the $2M–$20M+ range preferred.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and schedules.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency with field management tools and software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Construct Connect, Quick Bid, MS Project).
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and local building codes.
$80,000 – $100,000 a year
