Each Remote Year community has two RY Staff, who serve as leaders and members of the community: a Community Manager and a Logistics Manager. Together, these two are ultimately accountable for the experience and success of the program. The Community Manager handles the activities, events, interpersonal relations, and general feedback from the community on the experience.

Responsibilities Community Engagement : Create, communicate, and execute events to fulfill the following Remote Year brand programming strategy and community goals and preferences: Community Building: grow and maintain a strong sense of community through community meals, community forum meetings, and welcome/goodbye events in each city Local Immersion: provide opportunities for discovering and understanding local communities and cultures through organization of local language classes, service and volunteering activities, guest speakers, and unique local experiences Travel Experience: work with local vendors to provide active and adventure outings, city tours, day/weekend trips, and experiences with local attractions Professional: working closely with the operations manager, create professional platforms through global networking events, guest speakers, and internal skill sharing sessions

Community Leadership: maintain the pulse of individuals and the community as a whole, and respond with thoughtful interactions to encourage empowerment, acceptance, and a culture of growth and positivity

Qualifications: Required: 1+ years of teaching, social work, or other community-based leadership roles Required: Event planning experience Required: Extended travel experience Preferred: experience in tourism and/or working with small companies/teams

Skills/Qualities Interpersonal skills – this is a people job. You have to be able to/genuinely love connecting with diverse groups of people, all the time, in multiple ways Communications skills – individual and group interaction, both with your community, our team, and local contacts, will require much of your time and energy Organization Skills – ability to seamlessly own multiple events on a daily/weekly basis from planning to full execution Passion for your travelling community– an unwavering excitement and stamina to spend a year traveling the globe with and leading a RY community, and enough swagger to make your community want to follow you around the globe Patience and tolerance – this role will test you at times. You must show emotional maturity and thoughtfulness at all times
