NPR Development is looking for an experienced communications professional to join our growing Donor Communications team. The Donor Communications Manager will both create content and manage projects, producing materials that engage donors and connect them to NPR’s work and mission. This role involves writing and overseeing the production of a portfolio of projects, including major gift proposals, impact reports, marketing materials, newsletters, event materials, web content, stewardship initiatives, and more. The ideal candidate is creative, highly collaborative, and experienced in producing effective donor-facing communications. They should be familiar with best practices in philanthropic messaging and digital and print communications. Graphic design experience is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES
– Write compelling donor materials, including proposals, impact reports, stewardship content, newsletters, web content, and other resources.
– Act as a project manager, ensuring timely production and delivery of donor materials.
– Provide writing and editing support for communications and development-related materials.
– Manage the production and distribution of digital donor communications, including newsletters, donor emails, and donor-specific website features.
– Maintain and curate a library of graphics and photographs for use in communications materials.
– Support organization-wide knowledge management by organizing newsroom updates, program announcements, audience insights, and other relevant information.
– Manage content calendars for donor communications and stewardship activities.
– Collaborate with colleagues across NPR, including teams within Development, Marketing and Communications, and the newsroom.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
– 5 to 7 years of experience in nonprofit writing or communications, with proposal and grant writing preferred.
– Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
– Ability to tailor writing for different audiences and platforms, including print, web, and social media.
– Skill in turning complex information into clear, motivating language.
– Excellent organization, attention to detail, and strong deadline management.
– Proven ability to handle multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
– Highly collaborative mindset and appreciation for the value of a multidisciplinary team approach.
– Excellent interpersonal skills and a good sense of humor.
– Graphic design skills, including document layout and basic photo editing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
– Experience creating infographics, data visualizations, and short videos.
– Nonprofit development experience.
– Knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Webtrends, etc.).
– Experience building, testing, and deploying emails in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
– Salesforce (or equivalent database) experience.
– Experience with digital and email marketing and SEO (strong digital literacy preferred).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

WORK LOCATION
– Remote permitted: This role is based out of our Washington, DC office, but the employee may work remotely from a location NPR approves.

JOB TYPE
– Full-time, exempt position.

COMPENSATION
– Salary Range: The anticipated U.S. salary range for this role is $90,000–$100,000, plus benefits. This range reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to offer new hires across all U.S. locations.
