Location: UK, Spain, or Portugal

Role: Director of Commercial Operations

Reports to: CEO, Curaleaf International

Employment Type: Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY:
Curaleaf International is one of Europe’s largest vertically integrated medical cannabis companies, operating across the UK, Germany, Poland, and Australia, with EU GMP-certified production facilities in Portugal, Spain, and Canada. Revenue is growing quickly, and we are building the commercial infrastructure to match.

This newly created role sits at the core of our commercial operations. The Director of Commercial Operations is responsible for creating a demand-led commercial infrastructure that enables the business to scale—covering demand planning, a sales governance framework, and commercial processes that connect market intelligence to supply decisions. Working closely with our market Managing Directors, this role brings the discipline and rigor that turns commercial ambition into an actionable plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Commercial governance and sales process
– Build long-term pipeline visibility by developing the tools, templates, and operating disciplines needed to maintain a consolidated view of commercial performance at all times.
– Establish a consistent review rhythm: weekly market reviews in which country leaders present pipeline, wins/losses, and pricing issues using a standard framework.
– Define what “good” looks like for each market in terms of pipeline visibility and forecast accuracy, then build the process to achieve it.

Own the commercial demand signal
– Own the forward-looking commercial demand plan: an SKU-level, market-by-market view of what the business must sell and when, based on real market intelligence rather than historical patterns or available inventory.
– Ensure the demand signal is finalized and approved at the start of each planning cycle so supply teams plan against a fixed number, not a moving target.
– Partner with the Group Demand & S&OP Manager to ensure the commercial demand signal feeds clearly and accurately into the S&OP process.
– Work with Finance on the monthly re-forecast process; changes to the demand signal must be controlled, governed, and visible—not made ad hoc.
– Conduct SKU-level, market-by-market demand signals for smaller business entities.
– Produce long-term portfolio demand plans in partnership with the US-based team to understand how markets may evolve, collaborate with the regulatory team to identify potential industry changes, and develop a consolidated forward plan to hand over to the R&D and genetics teams for future launches.
– Create mid-to-long term demand plans that incorporate market analysis and portfolio planning for bi-annual handover to the General Managers, enabling them to translate this into SKU-level forecasts.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
To succeed in this role, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below reflect the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

Experience
– 10+ years in commercial operations, merchandising, demand planning, or commercial excellence, with a proven record of building these functions—not simply working within them.
– Strong preference for FMCG direct experience involving prescription, pharmacy, or clinical channels.
– Proven ability to design and implement sales governance frameworks and demand planning processes in a multi-market environment where no single unified process previously existed.
– Strong analytical skills: able to independently build SKU-level demand models, margin analyses, and commercial dashboards.
– Experience working alongside geo-based commercial teams in a matrix structure, influencing without direct line authority.

Preferred
– Familiarity with multi-country demand planning across markets that have structurally different commercial models.
– Experience working with—or alongside—an S&OP function, with a clear understanding of where commercial demand planning ends and where S&OP execution begins.

You
– A hands-on “playing coach”: you design the framework and do the work; you don’t just hand over a slide deck and move on.
– A builder: you’re energized by creating processes and governance that didn’t exist before and that endure beyond any one person’s decisions.
– Direct and constructive: you can tell a commercial team their forecast isn’t credible, explain why, and maintain the relationship.
– Committed to Curaleaf values: Lead & Inspire, Commit to Win, Customer Obsession, One Curaleaf, and Driven to Deliver Excellence.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
No specific physical requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
No specific environmental conditions.
