Position Summary: Become part of a small, dynamic development team that builds essential applications supporting university team travel across the country, from regular season trips to championship events. Whether you work in IT or another field, you’ll find a collaborative environment where people genuinely enjoy working together. In this role, you’ll begin by learning and supporting existing ColdFusion-based web applications used by staff and clients. As you grow, you’ll also gain experience with other development platforms that may enhance or eventually replace legacy systems. What to Expect in This Role

Application Maintenance and Performance:
• Ensure consistent uptime for all internal and external applications.
• Meet SLA expectations from identifying bugs through resolving them.
• Regularly review and refine code to maintain high performance and strong security.

Feature Development:
• Deliver key new features or enhancements each year that support the product roadmap and stakeholder needs.
• Lead the development and integration of a major new module or service within your first year to increase the portal’s value to clients.

Team Collaboration and Leadership:
• Partner closely with product management and customer service teams to ensure development reflects user needs and feedback.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
• Implement at least two meaningful process or technology improvements each year to enhance efficiency or product quality.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging web technologies, evaluating their relevance for ongoing and future projects.
• As part of Short’s Travel Management, you may occasionally assist other departments or take on responsibilities outside your usual scope to support the company and its clients. Additional duties as needed.

Requirements

Technical Skills

Essential (Coldfusion Role):
• Experience with other development languages, with strong preference for .NET or React front-end development.
• Proficient in ColdFusion, including CFML, CFCs, and CFScript.
• Strong foundation in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, and SQL databases.
• Experience with ColdFusion frameworks, Git or other version control systems, and REST or SOAP services.

Preferred:
• Experience working with travel industry data.
• Familiarity using SQL Server and Salesforce as data sources.
• Experience developing AI-powered features.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
