You love using open source. You never want to build anything from scratch. You’re not purist about product creation. You look at github as this wondrous treasure trove of free product waiting to get implemented and tailored and bettered by you and your customer. You think it is more important for people to use your product than to follow academic best practices. You like to iterate. You don’t worry about having to work all night solving problems, only to realize that usage (or non usage) suggests you have to quickly iterate again. Iteration is the Zen of repetition. And its not boring. You don’t feel like you wasted time, but rather learned lessons that will keep informing and inspiring you until the end of days. Then you feel refreshed and recharged to work another all nighter. You love work. You love looking at code. You love looking at people using your code. You want to help people. Thats why you build code. Thats why you want to innovate and disrupt something. Money is a secondary benefit. You understand speed is important. Speed is everything. You’re fanatical about speed. You’re agile- yes, but hell you’re ridiculously fast. You want in your heart of hearts to go the speed of light. The wasteland of broken companies and hearts is littered with great ideas and horrible execution. Riddled with myths and platitudes about building perfect product-market fit from research and focus groups. You know in your heart thats all bullshit. You understand success is constant iteration. Constant growth. Constant evolution. And a lot of hard work. You’re tireless. Sleep is an afterthought. We get a lot of it when we’re dead.
