The Spotify Editorial team is seeking a lead editor for the Canadian market. This Toronto‑based role will oversee a team of curators.
What You’ll Do
• Oversee Spotify’s editorial output in Canada.
• Grow and mentor a team of editors.
• Curate playlists and support the team in their curation work.
• Build and guide the editorial strategy for the Canadian music team.
• Lead cross‑functional projects from an editorial standpoint.
• Listen widely across genres to spot trends.
• Use cultural insight to shape new programming initiatives.
• Interpret data to evaluate the impact of the team’s work.
• Deliver a strong, impartial editorial voice that enhances the user experience.
Who You Are
• You have at least seven years of experience in music programming, curation, or another audience‑focused role.
• You have managed teams of curators or creatives.
• You know how to build and maintain a positive team culture.
• You have experience developing editorial strategy.
• You understand both current and historical music trends in Canada.
• You have a deep understanding of Canadian audiences.
• You have strong instincts for selecting music for any context.
• You are highly organized and skilled in project management.
• You communicate well and collaborate easily across teams.
• You can interpret analytics and respond effectively.
• You’re an experienced Spotify user who understands the platform deeply.
• You are proactive and energized by change.
• You can travel when required.
• You hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Where You’ll Be
• This role is based in Toronto, Canada.
• You’ll have flexibility to work where you’re most effective. Some in‑person meetings are required, but the role allows remote work. Expect to be in the office two to three days per week.
