We have a new product we are developing and need to hire a C++ developer. This could be either a purely desktop application developer, or a desktop developer + web developer. Either is fine.
We arelooking for a senior developer who has experience building windows desktop programs in C++.The developer should also have skill in working with APIs.
The program integrates with the https://cloud.google.com/speech-to-text API and allow computer users to performspeech-to-text on their computer. The speech-to-text functionality is 20% of what this program will do.
We have a very basic working function of this program that needs to be developed out. This would be your first assignment.
As a very basic litmus test, and as step 1 in this hiring process, this is how interested applicants can apply:

Currently the programis programmed so the hotkey’Ctrl + Alt + z’ turns the microphone on. As long as the those 3 buttons are pressed down, the microphone will continue to record. Once those 3 buttons are let go, the recording will stop. Once the recording is stopped, the recording is then sent to the API for processing. Once the recording is processed, the text is outputted on the computer wherever the cursor is.Modify the code so the following happens: If youpress ‘Ctrl + Alt + z’ start the recording. If you let go, the recording should continue, If you press ‘Ctrl + Alt + z’ again, the recording should stop, be sent to the API, processed, and then outputted on my computer. So basically the change is this: ‘Ctrl + Alt + z’ = turn mic on / turn mic off. There will be no need to ever hold down those 3 keys. You push them to turn the mic on. And then push them again to turn the mic off. And push them again to turn the mic on. etc.
Submit your resume and include 2 links: one link to your source code with the changes, and one link to the .exe file that will run this with the new button functionality.
When submitting your resume and the 2 links, tell me how long it took you to do the above task. Be honest because we will need to trust you.
