The Senior Benefits Specialist – Americas helps deliver, govern, and manage Rackspace’s benefits programs across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Colombia. The role supports a multi-country employee base in a fast-moving global environment, combining light administrative tasks with substantial responsibility for managing vendors, brokers, and carriers.
This position requires a dedicated benefits professional with strong technical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work within established governance frameworks. The role works closely with Global Benefits leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure the benefits strategy is executed consistently. This is not a transactional or generalist HR position.
Key Responsibilities
– Provide operational support for health, welfare, retirement, leave, and statutory benefits programs across the Americas.
– Handle employee benefits questions and escalations through the SNOW ticketing system, ensuring timely triage, resolution, and clear communication.
– Act as the main point of contact for brokers, carriers, TPAs, PBMs, COBRA administrators, and leave vendors; manage escalations and ensure vendors meet SLAs.
– Support annual renewals by coordinating census data, reviewing pricing, confirming assumptions, and partnering with leadership on recommendations.
– Review vendor invoices, eligibility files, and claims reports for accuracy; coordinate corrections with Payroll and Finance as needed.
– Ensure compliance with relevant laws, including U.S. federal and state requirements (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA), Canadian provincial rules, and statutory programs in Mexico and Colombia.
– Maintain compliance calendars and support audits, regulatory submissions, and documentation standards.
– Complete limited benefits transactions in Workday and ensure data accuracy across systems.
– Partner with HRBPs, Payroll, Finance, Legal, AskHR, and Global Benefits leadership to support onboarding, offboarding, employee moves, and organizational changes.
– Use sound judgment within governance frameworks and align with leadership before making policy or strategic changes.
– Spot recurring service problems or process gaps and recommend improvements with leadership.
– Stay up to date on changing benefits laws and market practices across the Americas through ongoing learning and broker engagement.
Qualifications
– 7+ years of progressive, dedicated benefits experience (not generalist HR).
– Experience managing vendors, renewals, escalations, and compliance-related activities.
– Strong knowledge of U.S. benefits legislation; experience in Canada, Mexico, and Colombia is preferred.
– Experience supporting audits, regulatory filings, or compliance oversight.
– Proven ability to collaborate effectively and operate within leadership-led governance structures.
– Strong communication skills with reliable follow-through.
– Experience with Workday and ticketing systems (SNOW preferred).
– High professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
– CEBS, SHRM-SCP, CBP, or related certifications preferred.
Salary: $75,000 – $130,000 per year
Compensation reflects labor costs across multiple U.S. locations. Base pay ranges from $75,000/year in the lowest market to $130,000/year in the highest market, based on factors such as location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
