Why join Secfix?
Secfix is a fully remote, early-stage startup in the truest sense: a close, energetic team united by the mission to automate security and compliance for modern businesses and become Europe’s leading compliance automation platform. We’ve scaled quickly—from three founders to 20 team members in under two years.
Your work will directly influence a product used by CTOs, engineering teams, and COOs, and your achievements will be celebrated by the entire team.
Unlike many startups, we’re expanding sustainably, balancing speed with thoughtful financial planning. Most of our expenses are already covered by revenue.
With ambitious goals ahead—we plan to double our team next year—you’ll experience continuous growth and development. Our progress is backed by top investors such as Octopus Ventures, Neosfer (Commerzbank), the founders of Signavio, and experienced angel investors.
Who are we looking for?
We’re creating an environment where motivated, self-directed engineers can truly thrive. We want people who take pride in building and maintaining real products, who care about how our features solve real-world problems, and who use their engineering depth to advance our product. We prioritize ownership of products and outcomes—not just completing Jira tasks.
Bring your ambition and eagerness to grow, and we’ll support you with an environment that keeps you fulfilled, healthy, and empowered to do your best work.
This role is roughly 90% backend troubleshooting and 10% new feature development.
Experience we’d love to see:
• At least one year of backend engineering experience through a full-time role or internships
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming with Java
• Early production experience with Java Spring Boot, Hibernate, and SQL
• Familiarity with third-party APIs and an interest in monitoring and debugging
• A proactive mindset, openness to feedback, and strong collaboration skills
You should apply if:
• You are ambitious, independent, and eager to learn
• You have at least one year of relevant early‑career experience
• You have strong engineering fundamentals and write efficient, high-quality code
• You enjoy autonomy and managing your own workload
• You communicate clearly in a remote environment and understand the importance of proactive communication
You should not apply if:
• You need heavy processes or detailed Jira tickets to operate
• You want to write code without thinking about customers or the broader context
• You don’t want to test, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot your work
• You prefer to be directed instead of owning your projects
• You do not want to collaborate closely with other teams or speak with users when needed
What to expect when you join:
• You will take ownership of complex backend issues, working with the Tech Lead while solving problems independently
• You will debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production bugs affecting customers
• You will deepen your backend expertise with Java Spring Boot, Hibernate, and SQL
• You will collaborate with a strong team to identify root causes, design solutions, and improve backend systems
• You will occasionally help build new features as the product evolves
• You will embody our values: customer obsession, smart building, trust, hackiness, ownership, and excellence in remote work
Our tech stack:
• Frontend: Typescript, Angular, Ngrx, Tailwind, Material UI
• Backend: Java Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Hibernate
• MDM product: Golang and Osquery
• Infrastructure: AWS with ECS
• Tools: GitLab CI/CD, Figma, Slack, Notion, Gather.town, ClickUp
Interview process:
We aim to interview strong candidates within a week and share feedback after the take‑home challenge.
The steps are:
1. Introductory call with our talent team (15–20 minutes)
2. Take‑home task (1–2 hours) and technical interview with the Tech Lead
3. Virtual on‑site with the team and co‑founders on Gather.town (about 2 hours)
4. Offer
After applying, you’ll receive an email from Grigory (CTO) or Chiara (People Ops). We move fast.
What we offer:
• Fully remote work with a virtual office in Gather
• Competitive local salaries based on GitLab’s compensation model
• Generous equity package—everyone is an owner
• 26 vacation days plus public holidays
• Comprehensive health insurance
• €1,000 annual personal development budget
• Remote workspace budget and access to co‑working spaces
• Annual retreat (this year in Milan!)
• Modern tech equipment (MacBook, monitors, headphones)
• Company-wide events to connect and have fun
• Access to top mentors through our investors
We are a remote-only, equal-opportunity employer. Because we rely on real-time communication for effective collaboration, we cannot support fully asynchronous work.
