About the Role:
We are looking for a talented Backend Engineer with strong experience in PHP and Laravel to design, develop, and maintain scalable and dependable server-side applications. In this role, you will help ensure performance, stability, and long-term maintainability across an expanding digital health ecosystem.

You will manage backend services and APIs, resolve complex production issues, improve database performance, and contribute to architectural decisions. In a remote-first, fast-moving environment, you’ll work closely with frontend developers, product managers, QA engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software.

This position is ideal for a mid-level engineer who is detail-oriented, enjoys tackling challenging technical problems, and thrives in collaborative settings while maintaining strong independence.

Must Have:
• 3+ years of experience with PHP and Laravel
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs
• Ability to write automated API tests
• Experience with Git and team workflows (GitHub)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Docker
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Rollbar or CloudWatch
• Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams

Nice to Have:
• Experience in healthcare or telehealth
• Background in optimizing legacy systems
• Exposure to distributed, scalable architectures
• Knowledge of performance monitoring and observability best practices
