About the Role
We’re hiring a Backend Engineer with strong experience in PHP and Laravel to design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable server-side applications. This role is essential to ensuring performance, stability, and long-term maintainability within a growing digital health ecosystem.

You’ll own backend services and APIs, resolve complex production issues, optimize database performance, and help shape architectural decisions. In our remote-first, fast-paced environment, you’ll collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, QA engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently.

This position is ideal for a mid-level engineer who is detail-oriented, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and thrives in collaborative settings while maintaining strong independence.

Must Have
– 3+ years of professional experience with PHP and Laravel
– Strong knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
– Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs
– Ability to write automated API tests
– Experience with Git and collaborative workflows (GitHub)
– Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
– Experience with Docker
– Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms
– Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Rollbar, CloudWatch)
– Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
– Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams

Nice to Have
– Experience in healthcare or telehealth
– Experience optimizing legacy systems
– Exposure to scalable distributed architectures
– Familiarity with performance monitoring and observability best practices
