As a backend engineer, you’ll be helping build out the APIs and services to support the tens of millions of requests our servers get every day. You’ll be working with a small, nimble engineering team where you’ll have a lot of opportunity and ownership to architect and build new features. You’ll also have a lot of opportunities to explore new technologies as we continue to scale out to keep up with our growth.

Our backend consists of Ruby on Rails and Go services backed by PostgreSQL, Redis, and DynamoDB. We use git, write tests, and have all of our code run through CI.

Responsibilities: -Work with backend engineers to build performant scalable services -Build out API for new features for the iPhone & Android app -Work on adding monitoring and metrics to increase visibility into what is happening on our system

Requirements: -Ruby (or some other dynamic language) -Strong understanding of object oriented concepts -Experience working with APIs (OAuth2, JSON, etc) -Deploying apps to Heroku and/or AWS

Pluses: -Working on large scale systems -Experience monitoring said large scale systems -Test driven development -Experience writing Go -Deployed apps with Docker
