LET’S SOLVE HARD PROBLEMS TOGETHER…

Are you a developer capable of taking ownership of many areas of Everpress’ backend code, writing tests and streamlining deployment processes? We need someone who is comfortable experimenting and owning the results, both good and bad!

You’ll be working on meaty projects all through the business, from automation in the production process and integrations with printing suppliers to the e-commerce experience and checkout optimisations.

We promise to give you the tools that you need to take ownership of projects, from ideas all the way to deployment.

DO THESE TOOLS MAKE YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE?

Our stack is PHP + Symfony (currently upgrading from 3.4 to 5.3) with MySQL 8. It’s hosted on AWS and makes use of ECS, S3 and SQS.We use Sentry and AWS for error logging, performance monitoring and optimisation. At Everpress, “Failure is Always an Option” on the way to successful engineering!

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO YOU ACHIEVING…

•Helping us build high-performance and high-quality software that is secure, easy to scale and maintain.

•Exploring solutions to interesting problems and best practices across the industry, building prototypes and using A/B testing and event tracking to inform decisions

•Working closely with users and the team to make sure we’re solving the problems that will really help independent creators.

•Owning your own technical roadmap. For example, improving build pipelines and deployments, optimising performance or introducing new tools. We’re constantly improving our infrastructure and development process.

AN ENGINEER WITH THIS, IS OUR KINDA ENGINEER…

•Ability to work autonomously with PHP 7 and recent use of PHP frameworks – ideally Symfony

•Experience working with PHPUnit and integration tests

•Ability to communicate across departments, in both technical and non-technical language

•Ability to work as part of a proactive, solutions-based team able to give and receive feedback

•Open to pairing with colleagues on challenging tasks (at EVERPRESS, we often use pair programming and mob calls to discuss and solve tough problems together as a team)

•An analytical mind and a real passion for solving problems

•Ability to work autonomously, as well as collaborate within a team on project-based work

•Ability to build, scale and operate a platform to support a product that you and the team will use every day

•Cloud/DevOps experience or interest in learning more about it would be great
