Piton Labs is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (full-time). We’re looking for someone who can work across the entire stack, with a strong preference for candidates who are especially strong in backend development. Deep experience with cloud infrastructure is required. Experience gained at startups—either through personal projects or by working at early-stage companies—is a plus. We explicitly prefer candidates located between GMT-8 (U.S. West Coast) and GMT-3, though in some cases we may consider other time zones.
## Responsibilities and technologies
At Piton Labs, you work with startups as well as large organizations to solve complex technical challenges. You help clients navigate the uncertainty and complexity involved in building software—supporting them as they develop their products and clarifying what actually needs to be built. This is not just task execution: you also help define priorities and focus on the problems that matter most to our clients.
We don’t follow a single mandatory technical stack, but most projects use TypeScript, React, and Go. For cloud infrastructure, we typically use AWS, although some clients use other providers. You must have at least five years of experience in a strong application development stack, including relational databases and modern frontend frameworks. Familiarity with our preferred tools is a plus but not required. You must be able to deliver reliable, well-tested code.
A typical week may include:
– Designing challenging user interfaces for web or mobile applications
– Building and developing a serverless API layer for a new web product
– Setting up and deploying cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools
– Presenting new features to the client’s stakeholders
## About the ideal candidate
You’re self-directed and enjoy building software. You like solving problems and continuously improving your technical skills. Key strengths include:
– Practical: problem-solving and creating value, showing creativity when needed
– Self-sufficient: owns products or features and understands both technical and human aspects
– Experienced: more than five years across many types of projects, with skills sharpened over time
– Adaptable: stays current with technology and isn’t limited to a single area of specialization
## Remote work policy
– Our team is fully remote and we don’t maintain a physical office
– We prefer candidates based in the United States with legal authorization to work
– Second preference: candidates in Canada, Uruguay, or Paraguay
– The role requires 4–6 hours of daily overlap with the U.S. Eastern Time time zone
– Digital nomads are welcome; your location is flexible
## Why work with us?
– Competitive compensation: $140,000 USD per year for U.S.-based candidates
– Significant quarterly bonuses tied to company performance, typically between $2,500 and $5,000
– Four weeks of paid time off
– Fully remote work
– Strong work-life balance—you work with dynamic startups without sacrificing your weekends
– Flexible culture with few meetings and minimal need for synchronization, built on strong trust in your delivery
