Blackboard, the global leader in higher education learning software and campus card systems, is searching for a highly technical Automation Engineer. Based in Phoenix, Blackboard campus payment systems are installed in America’s largest and most prestigious universities. The Automation Engineer works to ensure that the product meets specified functional, load, localization, accessibility and performance requirements. Automation engineer may write and update test cases, along with creating appropriate tools, utilities, and automation scripts. The Automation Engineer will also assist in extending the current automation and test management framework. The Automation Engineer will work as a member of a cross functional team including product analyst, software developers, DevOps engineers, and QA analysts, so effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork is essential for success. The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include:
Proficient at decomposing requirements and developing test automation for projects of simple to high complexity
Practices automation development efficiency, maintainability and reusability
Provides accurate implementation level estimates and delivers on them
Comprehends high level requirements and design and contributes to their details
Recognizes issues (e.g. with requirements, design, implementation, etc.) and works with appropriate resources to address and resolve
Seeks to understand big picture/business cases behind individual requirements
In addition, will:
Help ensure overall product quality
Effectively collaborate and communicate with others
Become an expert her/his product features/functionality
Create and manage testing schedule
Be an advocate for product excellence, usability and end user experience
