Hello. We’re Prismic. We’re a SaaS product aimed at meeting the needs of both individual developers and large enterprise websites.
In a nutshell, we’re a CMS – like WordPress, but different – although that’s a massive oversimplification. With Prismic, developers and designers are free to use their preferred technologies to build websites and content creators and marketers are able to independently add and edit content.
Now, just from reading that you will probably understand that this means that we serve a wide array of different user-profiles and the needs that come with them. With this in mind, as an Apprentice Product Designer, you will support our design efforts to shape the product experience and learn how to best fit our different customers’ needs.
Design team
The design team is (currently) a group of 6 designers. Some specialize in UI and visual design, others in UX and research.
Different parts of our product experience are at different points of maturity and complexity, and we are aiming to improve the overall experience of building websites and creating content.
To get there, we need motivated design apprentices to join us and work on these challenges while developing their skills and experience in a real product environment.
If you love what you do, are driven and passionate, and you’re interested in a growing company, then we want to hear from you.
What will you be doing? 🔧
As an apprentice, your role is to assist in solving a wide variety of different product challenges: from contributing to new features to helping harmonise UX patterns across the product, always under the guidance of experienced designers.
-Wire-frame, build end-to-end flows, prototype, design UI (while not forgetting the details, fonts, colours, spacings, interaction patterns, wordings*…*)
-Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of UX Researchers, Product Managers, Developers and other Designers across every touchpoint of the user experience.
-Work with UX researchers from the start and learn how to form a good understanding of our users and the problems we are solving.
-Interact with our users to evaluate your proposed design solutions
-Help build our user’s journeys, specific to their use cases & objectives
-Contribute to the improvement and documentation of our design system
-Get the freedom to work at the edge of new practices with AI tools that enables your workflow
Are you the one? 🧠
Required:
-A portfolio or selection of projects (school, personal, freelance) showing your interest in designing software for desktop and/or mobile, with foundations in typography, interaction and visual design, and idea generation.
-You love to iterate, edit, abandon, and start again.
-A curiosity to understand complex scenarios and translate them into clear user flows.
-Good knowledge of UX methodologies (from your studies or personal projects).
-Willingness to learn usability testing and research, with guidance from UX Researchers.
-Eager to learn new practices and push boundaries of design tools by leveraging the latest AI capabilities
-You are used to working with a design system.
-A learning and growth mindset: our team size and our design process will evolve over the next few years. We will learn quickly and integrate what we learn — from our work and from each other.
-Huge plus if you are technically adept (it can get technical). You worked with developers extensively, you maybe have already built a website from scratch, or if you have used other CMSs before…? Some basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript is a bonus.
-Experience collaborating with distant teammates and understanding of the communication patterns within remote teams.
Preferred Skills ⭐️
-Any additional skills in illustration, animation, front-end development, or icon design are a plus!
-Familiarity with SaaS products or content management tools is appreciated but not required.
If you don’t tick all of the Nice to have boxes – no worries, we still encourage you to apply! At Prismic, we’re committed to embracing diverse profiles. We will understand what you can bring to the table, and fit your skills into our teams.
Afraid of missing out if you’re remote? 🌍 Worry not!
-You get the chance to visit us from time to time and spend a few days at the Paris office
-We organize virtual events to stay connected with each other
-We also hold regular global meetings
-We do our best to nurture a relaxed and informal atmosphere, enabling you to feel supported, thrive at your job, and keep learning.
