What You’ll Do: The Vice President of Application Services (VP Apps) will provide strategic leadership to deliver coherent, cohesive, agile, enterprise-focused application technology solutions, with an emphasis on aligning IT capabilities to business needs. This role will partner with business leaders to fully understand their requirements and how software can enable and improve the functionality they need. The VP Apps will also set the applications technology roadmap, aligned with the business strategy.
In addition, the VP Apps will communicate with stakeholders and provide technical design leadership—driving innovation and guiding their teams to ensure high-value application development, deployment, and integrations that meet business requirements and internal standards. The ideal candidate will lead applications teams made up of internal staff, managed service providers, and contract resources. They will also ensure the applications environment is maintained according to SLAs agreed with the business.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop multi-year application strategy and roadmap aligned with business and technology direction.
– Create departmental KPIs and manage reporting against them.
– Develop service catalogs and SLAs for services provided.
– Keep applications and tools updated to supported versions.
– Manage client expectations for application portfolio, support, and delivery.
– Partner with cross-functional IT leadership to prioritize initiatives and plan resources effectively.
– Build a practical working knowledge of business processes and work with key partners to recommend solutions that best meet strategic business needs.
– Motivate, lead, and develop a diverse team with varying experience levels and skill sets.
– Assess installed software solutions and identify opportunities to improve standards, simplify processes, enhance functionality, and/or transition to packaged solutions to improve supportability and time to market.
– Analyze major technology, industry, and market trends to determine their potential impact on enterprise architecture while aligning with and enabling business strategy.
– Provide leadership for strategic application architecture, system design, and implementation.
– Support both IT and business leadership with broad knowledge of platforms and applications across technologies.
– Work with project teams across the organization to apply architectural best practices and standards, including deeper advisory support for complex initiatives.
– Deliver application recommendations that follow architectural standards and generate significant value relative to IT investments.
– Ensure that the “face of IT” and all IT outputs align with communication strategies and support ease of use and agility principles.
– Create and maintain standardized system development life cycle processes, updated regularly based on lessons learned.
– Apply development methodologies to achieve service delivery objectives.
– Ensure project delivery objectives are met.
– Establish and maintain architectural best practices and standards covering applications, data, and technology across the application landscape.
– Develop IT communication strategies and optimize processes across groups that interact with IT (employees, business, corporate, production, etc.).
– Lead internal application development projects to meet scope, goals, budget, schedule, resourcing, and deliverables.
– Maintain strong communication with business partners, management, and team members.
– Follow change management processes.
– Apply established methodology and enforce standards.
– Ensure adherence to project management methodology and store all project deliverables and documentation.
– Lead and potentially champion change management efforts.
– Support applicable regulations such as SOX, HIPAA, and GDPR.
– Develop and manage departmental capital and operating expense budgets and forecasts.
– Ensure the team is properly structured and resourced to meet service delivery objectives.
– Provide leadership and management, including mentoring and career development.
– Manage vendor relationships and contracts.
– Optimize resourcing to meet service delivery and cost goals through managed services, offshore resources, and contractors.
– Ensure cross-training and documentation are in place to support service delivery objectives.
What You’ll Bring:
– 10+ years of experience implementing IT application projects, with a proven record of successfully managing multiple projects at once across a broad scope.
– At least 10 years of experience in IT management, business analysis, solutions management, or a related field.
– Experience delivering SAAS application solutions globally.
– Proven ability to lead large, complex projects in business, IT consulting, or management roles.
– Deep knowledge of MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
– Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
– Experience with Financial and Operations ERP systems required; D365 preferred.
– Manufacturing systems experience preferred.
– Strong client relationship skills.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Strong project management skills.
– Expert planning, organizing, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
– Highly detail-oriented and organized.
– Strong critical thinking and people-management skills, including managing remote staff.
– Strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy.
– Working knowledge of the entertainment industry (especially organizations similar to Deluxe) and relevant industry context is preferred.
– Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, launch, and deliver multiple IT projects on time, achieving expected business outcomes.
– In-depth knowledge of the system development life cycle, including current and emerging application development tools/platforms and application programming alternatives.
– Knowledge of multiple technologies, including system analysis and design tools.
– Able to work effectively under stress and with tight delivery timelines.

Salary Range: $60,000 — $105,000 per year
