Your Impact as a Project Procurement Manager (Senior to Principal) – APAC
In this role, you will lead the procurement of materials, equipment, services, and subcontracts for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. You will oversee all aspects of material and equipment procurement—from early planning and tenders to sourcing, expediting, inspection, logistics, and site delivery. You will also manage supplier relationships and performance throughout the project lifecycle. Success will be measured by your ability to secure materials and services below budget, on schedule, and aligned with quality and technical requirements. You will be expected to build competitive sourcing strategies, maintain strong supplier engagement, negotiate effectively, and address any supplier or contractor performance issues.

Reporting directly to the VP of Procurement, you will represent procurement across assigned projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and strategy. You will challenge existing practices and processes to find cost‑effective solutions. This role requires strong planning, project management, cost control, sourcing, communication, and negotiation skills.

The role is preferably based in Melbourne, Australia, but can be remote with up to 20% travel to meetings, supplier visits, and project sites. It is an individual contributor position managing procurement for multiple projects simultaneously, requiring excellent time management and comfort in fast‑paced, construction‑focused environments.

Your Mission
• Lead procurement activities for complex projects while reporting to the VP of Procurement and supporting the Project Manager.
• Serve as the central point of contact for Procurement, Sales, Commercial, Application Engineering, and Project Execution teams.
• Align procurement processes and timelines with project requirements.
• Support Sales and Commercial teams by meeting tender deadlines and requirements.
• Develop procurement strategies aligned with project execution plans.
• Build and lead a procurement team in the future.
• Maintain project procurement plans and track supplier materials and equipment.
• Manage RFPs/RFQs, evaluate bids, negotiate final terms, prepare bid comparisons, and process approvals before awarding contracts and purchase orders.
• Negotiate supplier agreements that best support Energy Vault.
• Oversee supplier performance and ensure compliance with customer contract requirements.
• Analyze material status reports and communicate risks to leadership and project teams.
• Resolve supplier and contractor escalations promptly.
• Oversee logistics and supply chain coordination for project sites.
• Manage supplier communications, including warranty claims, back‑charges, and liquidated damages.
• Track budgets for procurement scopes across projects.
• Work with cross‑functional teams on supplier qualifications and performance.
• Monitor global market conditions to optimize leverage and reduce risk.

Your Background
• BS in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related field; MS preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in procurement for large construction or renewable energy projects; BESS experience preferred.
• Strong project management, organizational, and planning abilities.
• Ability to work with systems such as Oracle NetSuite and various material/document control tools.
• Adaptability to shifting priorities and diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills with internal and external teams.
• Self‑motivated with strong influencing and facilitation skills.
• Ability to unify teams and drive results.
• Knowledge of strategic sourcing strategies and procurement best practices.
• Strong ownership mindset and sense of urgency.
• Passion for carbon neutrality and sustainability.
• Ability to travel up to 20%, domestic or international.
• Comfortable working in a rapid‑growth, fast‑paced environment.
