It’s an exciting time to join Metrika! A Series A-funded startup in growth-mode with teammates across the US, Canada, UK, and Europe, we are building the world’s premier platform for blockchain risk management and compliance. We define blockchain risk as any risk that jeopardizes the operational health and viability of a blockchain network. Metrika works with financial institutions, blockchain protocols, and regulators to help them identify, measure, manage and monitor blockchain risk.

These are the early days of our platform, and as an Junior Analytics Engineer you will be able to contribute, influence and take ownership in a number of initiatives. You will become a domain expert in a variety of blockchain networks/protocols, maintain existing blockchain networks/protocols on the Metrika Platform, and work with our Product and Engineering teams to refine and build new data features.

If you have a strong background in programming, databases, data analysis, and would love to work with an international, distributed team, join us! No prior experience in blockchain is necessary, but an interest in learning and being deeply immersed is. You will gain blockchain expertise in this role!

What you will be doing:

  • Data ingestion, dashboards, reports and alerts:

  • Build robust data ingestion services

  • Create aggregate data sets and scripts to calculate synthetic derived metrics

  • Develop and QA dashboards for blockchain communities

  • Support integration of all the above into the Metrika Platform

  • Research blockchain protocols to

  • Evaluate metrics/KPIs that are needed to improve operations on the network

  • Identify data sources to collect metrics

  • Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to refine and implement new product features

Please note: Our Analytics team is predominantly based in Europe and the eastern United Statues. This position is currently open to those resident and currently able to work in the European Economic Area (EU, Norway, Liechtenstein), Switzerland, the UK as well as the eastern United States/Canada (UTC-4/UTC-5 timezone), and Latin America

What we look for in you:

  • If you have a strong technical background, are a proactive and good communicator, and have the interest and ability to dive in and learn quickly, you will thrive in this role

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or related field

  • At least 1-2 years experience – includes internships and side projects

  • Programming experience (our team works predominantly with Python):

  • Ingesting data from APIs and databases

  • Data analysis and visualization (pandas, matplotlib etc)

  • Unit and integration testing

  • Basic understanding of Git

  • Experience querying, analyzing and visualizing data:

  • Experience writing queries for SQL or noSQL databases

  • Experience with data visualization software (e.g. Tableau, Kibana, Grafana, Apache Superset)

  • Experience synthesizing data to identify trends and tell a story

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with other teams:

  • Understanding of product development processes

  • Familiarity working with Product and Engineering teams to support the refinement and implementation of product features

  • Communications skills:

  • Communicate well with your team, both interactively and asynchronously

  • Be a positive, constructive team member

  • Owning your work:

  • Ability to function unaided to solve problems and deliver your work

  • Ability to independently research new technologies and topics (e.g., blockchain protocols)

Nice to have!

  • An interest and familiarity with blockchain technology

  • Experience taking Python code into production

  • Experience with basic statistical analysis, time series analysis and anomaly detection

  • Experience in building, maintaining, improving dashboards that successfully convey business-critical KPIs
