The Opportunity

We are looking for a Mid-Level Information Analyst with a strong foundation in AML Information Governance. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in several of the following areas: SQL, Python, Snowflake, and SAS, along with the ability to lead and analyze information using a variety of methods. This role requires working closely with business owners and technical teams to ensure compliance with USAA policies and applicable regulations. Key responsibilities include metadata management for transparency, data quality assurance for reliability, retention management for proper handling, and data security to protect sensitive information.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires you to be in the office 4 days per week. The preferred location for this role is our Plano, Texas office. However, you may also be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Colorado Springs, CO; Charlotte, NC; Chesapeake, VA; or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you’ll do:

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes across all IMA responsibilities and activities.
  • Participate in and possibly lead discussions with cross-functional teams to promote consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness in information management.
  • Help develop standard processes and tools based on business needs.
  • Maintain Information Asset Inventories and ensure data and assets are classified appropriately.
  • Support the delivery of information in line with Information Governance standards and data management practices through documentation, teamwork, and execution of established processes.
  • Maintain the metadata repository and ensure metadata is accurately associated.
  • Review, validate, and document metadata and data quality information.
  • Create process improvements and enhancements to reduce data quality risks, including developing data quality plans, implementing data quality rule checks, overseeing results, and supporting reports and dashboards as appropriate.
  • Document and update data quality corrective action plans.
  • Support the compliance assessment process by reviewing and documenting failures identified through data quality compliance checks.
  • Recommend master and reference data processes and procedures aligned with enterprise policies and standards.
  • Develop and maintain reference data according to defined processes and procedures.
  • Lead quality efforts and ongoing maintenance of master data as it is built.
  • Help define and drive the implementation of processes and improvements to reduce data quality risks.
  • Support compliance assessments by identifying and flagging items that may pose risk to the corporation.
  • Support privacy initiatives through the classification, tagging, and analysis of critical data.
  • Ensure compliance and remediation of critical data in accordance with established policies and processes. Ensure risks from business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled according to risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a Business or Science-related field is required; OR 4+ years of related data and analytics or technical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted for the degree.
  • 4+ years of experience in an information management practice, business application function, or data delivery; OR if you have an Advanced degree in a Business or Science-related field, 2+ years of experience in data and analytics, technical work, or a business-relevant function.
  • Basic experience applying data management practices and theories, using tools to implement data management and address data management risks and concerns.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of SQL, including SQL-based languages.
  • Ability to build business knowledge through meaningful partnerships at both individual contributor and leadership levels.
  • Ability to understand and correct data discrepancies, identify data anomalies, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Confirmed interpersonal skills, including the ability to present to all levels of management.

What sets you apart:

  • 2+ years of AML (anti-money laundering) experience in information technology.
  • Experience with the Actimize Case Management tool.
  • Proven technical experience with SQL, Python, SAS, and Snowflakes.
  • Strong writing and communication skills specifically for the Information Management field, with the ability to explain complex data concepts clearly and effectively.
  • CAMS certification.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is $103,450 – $197,730.

Compensation: USAA uses an effective process to review market data and determine salary ranges to remain competitive. Your pay is set within the range based on your experience and the position’s market data. The actual salary may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance, at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
