Gaggle is looking for an experienced DevOps engineer familiar with both AWS and on-premises equipment for a permanent role on our team as we migrate our services to AWS.This is a remote position, with occasional travel to the home office (roughly twice per year).
We are looking for someone within about an hour of downtown Los Angeles, to be an emergency backup for our on-premises data center. This is a secondary responsibility, but a requirement for this position.
This is a hands-on role for a senior level position. Working independently and collaboratively with the rest of the team, you’ll be responsible for helping architect, orchestrate, and automate our AWS deployment. We are in the early stages of our migration, so there is lots to do and solve.
Responsibilities:
Verify and monitor cloud and on premises environments and respond to issues as they arise, adding new monitoring as needed
Work with development and product teams to ensure processes progress all the way through maturity. Recommend alternate choices and trade-offs for various design decisions.
Document and work with other members of the operations team to cross-train on AWS deployments as they occur
Be part of an on-call rotation for after hours emergency response
Investigate performance and process failures and work to improve them
Stay apprised of new developments in both AWS and operations, help in determining how and when those would affect and/or improve our architecture
