The BizOps & Finance team at Metabase is looking for a high-performing addition who can oversee our accounting, external audits, tax matters, and payment processes. Since our bookkeeping and tax work are outsourced, this role involves managing and coordinating with external accounting partners. Over time, we may bring some of these responsibilities in-house. You will also help design and improve our internal systems, workflows, and reporting.

This role provides significant exposure to the financial operations of a fast-growing company and offers the chance to take ownership of our accounting function as it expands. We are a small team, so you should be ready to dive in and help wherever needed.

Responsibilities
• Collaborate with external accountants and lead the month-end close process
• Coordinate and communicate with external financial auditors
• Work with tax accountants, providing analysis to support tax filings and ensuring deadlines stay on track
• Develop internal reporting
• Create and refine financial systems and processes to boost efficiency
• Manage payment processes and assist team members with purchases
• Oversee insurance requirements
• Step in wherever help is needed

About You
• Exceptional quantitative abilities, producing accurate reports and resolving complex bookkeeping issues
• Strong organizational and project-management skills
• CPA with solid GAAP knowledge
• Around 3–5 years of experience, ideally in a startup, high-growth environment, or public accounting
• Strong quantitative undergraduate degree
• Based in the US or Canada
• Low-ego and willing to take on tasks of any size
• Nice-to-have: experience with tax compliance and external auditors
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with QBO
• Nice-to-have: some SQL or scripting knowledge (Python, JavaScript, VBA) for automation
