Summary of Position:

Reporting to the Controller, the Associate Director/Director of SEC reporting and Technical Accounting will have responsibility for managing the SEC reporting function, including quarterly and annual reporting. This position will present an opportunity to join a growing and expanding finance team by taking the lead in researching and interpreting accounting guidance to ensure compliant disclosures. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing reporting processes in a public company with a commercial asset. To lead this area, the candidate will be required to have in-depth knowledge of technical accounting, SEC reporting and managing internal control processes. This position will require strong organization, clear communication, attention to detail and a great sense of teamwork. This position represents a great opportunity to help build a critical function at a growing and evolving, multi-product candidate biotechnology company.

Position Responsibilities:

• Manage the coordination and preparation of financial statements and disclosures on Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission
• Prepare financial statements and disclosures with clear and well-organized documentation including detailed financial calculations and analyses
• Assist in researching accounting and reporting matters and assessing the impact to the financial statements
• Review financial and other information from other departments and entities for inclusion in SEC filings
• Participate in the interpretation and analysis of new accounting principles and regulatory decisions to assess the financial statement impact, and the implementation of accounting-related changes to ensure compliance.
• Assist in maintaining an effective internal control environment
• Position will also require partnership with various members of cross functional teams, as well as external auditors
• Assist in ad-hoc projects as needed

Candidate Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, or Finance
• CPA and/or MBA preferred
• Hands-on knowledge of SEC reporting tools
• Prior experience researching and interpreting FASB and other accounting guidance
• Familiarity with internal controls requirements in a public company
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
• Thrives in a dynamic environment
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• At least 10 years of applicable experience, spread between a public pharmaceutical or biotechnology company and an audit environment
