Position Overview
The Registered Nurse in this role is responsible for informing patients about abnormal lab results in accordance with state licensure standards. Primary responsibilities include contacting patients, documenting all interactions, following up on escalated lab concerns, and coordinating with providers to ensure each communication meets clinical and legal requirements. This position is essential for timely patient outreach and regulatory compliance.

What You’ll Work On
• Review and interpret lab results from the pre‑screening program, independently assessing abnormal, urgent, or critical findings that require follow‑up.
• Reach out to patients to explain abnormal or critical lab results, using approved guidelines, staying within RN scope, and communicating with empathy, especially when results may be serious.
• Educate patients so they can understand their results and make informed choices.
• Use critical thinking to evaluate urgency and determine priorities for outreach.
• Document all interactions clearly, including results, concerns, and next steps, following regulatory and signature standards.
• Manage time effectively while handling multiple lab reviews and patient calls, prioritizing urgent needs.
• Apply problem‑solving skills to address lab inconsistencies or data issues.
• Use data insights to spot trends that support evidence‑based improvements and better patient outcomes.
• Stay up to date on healthcare regulations to ensure communication remains legal and ethical.
• Escalate issues outside the RN scope to an on‑call provider (NP/PA/MD/DO) and assist with delivering results and documentation.
• Respond to escalations from the Retention Team regarding lab questions, discrepancies, or additional testing needs, then communicate resolutions to patients and document them.

Physical and Travel Requirements
• This is a remote position with under 10 percent travel; occasional planned trips may be required.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation to provide coverage when needed.

What You Bring
• Strong analytical and communication skills with a commitment to patient‑centered care.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple patients at once.
• Ability to work independently while staying connected to a wider clinical team.
• A key role in upholding clinical and legal standards through accurate communication and patient management.
• Strong skills in interpreting and documenting data to ensure accurate reporting of lab results.

Certifications, Licenses, Education, and Experience
• Active RN license with a commitment to regulatory compliance; compact licensure required, with additional state licenses as needed.
• BSN or equivalent degree preferred.
• At least three years of experience in nursing, clinical research, medical communication, or a related field.
• Experience with Salesforce or other EMR systems.
• Licensure must be current and in good standing.
Compact states (42) include Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Texas, and others.
Non‑compact states (8) include California, Nevada, Illinois, Hawaii, Alaska, Oregon, Minnesota, and New York.

Benefits (US Full‑Time Employees Only)
• Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
• Fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees; 75 percent coverage for dependents.
• HSA plan.
• Short‑term disability, long‑term disability, and life insurance.
• A culture dedicated to growth and equity.
• 401(k) retirement plan.
