Our team at Stoic, a 4-time BAFTA nominated independent video game company, is seeking a Narrative Designer. The person successful in this position is passionate about weaving drama into the fabric of the game experience, through story, and bringing exceptional entertainment to the player. If you enjoy telling a good story and filling in the fascinating details to support a broadly appealing universe we’d love to talk.

What You Will Do:

Write and implement quests, making the characters and world come alive
Partner with Lead Narrative Designer to worldbuild and define major narrative beats
Communicate narrative through documentation, outlines, scripts, and presentations
Deliver innovative narrative assignments with quality and speed
Build effective partnerships with the Product, Design, Production, Art, Animation, and Narrative Leads to align Narrative with business goals
Innovate with high accuracy across multiple iterations and with minimal supervision, addressing internal and external stakeholder feedback and executing revisions

Need to Have:

3+ years of quest design, narrative design, or game writing experience at an established game studio
Demonstrated experience with dialogue editors and/or game development tools (Unreal preferred)
A portfolio that includes published work that demonstrates process and capabilities in crafting compelling game narratives
Experience and interest in working within pre-established lore
Strong writing and character development skills
Extensive content creation experience
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Understanding the high level overview of worldbuilding
Versatile in a variety of writing styles
Able to work creatively in a team environment

Nice to Have:

Experience writing in a writers’ room or collaborative writing environment
