SCOPE OF THE JOB:
The Managing Editor will manage the day-to-day operations of a website within the Play Network of Sites, including writing articles, providing analysis, and driving growth by becoming an expert on the gambling market in their state.
YOUR CHALLENGE:
Oversee day-to-day production of a website in the Play Network of Sites.
Write articles, update existing content and work with the content manager in identifying evergreen content needs.
Assign, edit and publish content on the sites, and ensure that the sites standing pages are accurate and up to date.
Supervise freelance writers by collaborating to identify story ideas, assigning stories, and providing feedback on job performance.
Work with in-house resources to include video and audio content, as needed.
Work with content manager and developers to identify and assist in implementing betting resources.
Plan for upcoming events on the sports calendar and build content around search terms for those events, working with the SEO team and content manager on execution.
Create useful content on social media platforms beyond the distribution of site content, including the use of rich media content creation, engagement with followers, and promotion of other sites in the Catena Media network.
TO DO IT, YOU WILL HAVE:
The Managing Editor must have at least five years of editing and writing experience and a two- or four-year college degree. Applicants should be able to provide published writing samples.
Comfortable editing and writing quickly and under deadline, while maintaining attention to detail.
Past experience writing about the gaming industry and sports betting for online casinos is preferred.
Experience working in WordPress is preferred but not required.
Ability to manage multiple projects, communicate progress, and identify challenges is important.
Evening or weekend work may be required on occasion.
May occasionally be asked to travel to sites or events in the course of the job.
