THIS ROLE IS 100% REMOTE
The Associate Corporate Counsel, Large Molecule, provides global legal counsel to the Large Molecule Business Unit within PSG’s Drug Substance Division. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality commercial/business legal advice, compliance guidance, and transactional support to the Large Molecule Business Unit. The Associate Corporate Counsel will independently manage day-to-day legal operations for the business, participate directly in business transactions, commercial disputes, and settlements, and advise the Large Molecule team on specific compliance and regulatory matters. Working closely with the Director, Corporate Counsel, the Associate Corporate Counsel will help set legal priorities, align risk, and handle escalation issues. The position also manages outside counsel for certain aspects of the Large Molecule business, leads and supports selected legal projects and initiatives, and provides training to the organization on a range of legal topics.
This role reports to the Director, Corporate Counsel, Large Molecule.
This is a full-time, permanent position with 100% remote work in North America.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing legal advice and support to the Large Molecule Business Unit of DSD/PSG (currently operating across sites in St. Louis, MO; Lengnau, Switzerland; Groningen, The Netherlands; Brisbane, Australia; Plainville, MA; Gosselies, Belgium; Seneffe, Belgium; San Francisco, CA; and Carlsbad, CA).
- Occasionally provide legal support to other DSD Business Units.
- Build effective working relationships with BU and Site Leadership Teams, Business Management, Sales, Operations, Quality, and other stakeholders to provide timely guidance on commercial, business, and compliance legal matters as they arise.
- Collaborate with PSG Contracting and Functional Counsel as needed.
- Provide continuous support primarily related to biopharmaceutical manufacturing contracts, including commercial, supplier, and sourcing agreements, proposals, statements of work (SOWs), and related drafting and review activities.
- Advise on a range of legal, regulatory, and compliance issues, including pharmaceutical manufacturing (FDA and other regulators, cGMP, etc.), products liability, trade compliance, anti-bribery, and data privacy.
- Provide advice, as needed, for supply chain and sourcing activities, particularly regarding liability gaps and chain coverage from vendor to customer.
- Help ensure that Large Molecule operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and Thermo Fisher policies and guidelines.
- Provide advice on customer and other commercial/business complaints and disputes involving both clients and vendors.
- Support the Division Lead Counsel on strategic Division/BU projects, as assigned.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate required (or equivalent work experience).
- Strong experience in commercial contract management gained in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Ideally, experience from the pharmaceutical industry (or a related sector) or with a contract manufacturing solutions provider; experience in a manufacturing environment is beneficial but not required.
- Customer-focused approach in supporting both external and internal clients while protecting the company’s best interests.
- Proven negotiation skills and strong business judgment.
- Ability to deliver high-quality results with limited resources and a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced, demanding setting.
- Excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal skills, including experience building and developing teams.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision needed to meet goals and objectives.

- Travel estimated at 10–15%.
