In this role, you’ll handle calls for a client that provides payroll services for individuals in self-directed Medicaid programs. These programs allow Medicaid recipients to hire the caregiver of their choice. The client ensures caregivers are paid for supporting their family members.
Contractors who begin certification between November 18 and December 9 can earn significant extra income for the holidays. Details are available in the Compensation and Benefits section.
Key responsibilities:
• Answer incoming calls from patients and caregivers with empathy, offering information and resolving questions
• Assist with enrollment, applications, and system setup
• Retrieve information to respond to payroll-related inquiries
• Use de-escalation techniques with upset callers
• Provide clear instructions to resolve issues
• Document important details and outcomes
What you should bring:
To support this client, you need at least one year of customer service experience, strong computer skills, and basic troubleshooting abilities. You should also have:
• Empathy, patience, and a friendly attitude
• The ability to handle sensitive calls and calm emotional callers
• Strong listening skills
• Excellent communication skills
• High accuracy
• The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• A focus on quality and resolving issues on the first call
• Comfort working with numbers and payment-related topics
Home office requirements:
• A computer with Windows 10 or 11, 8 GB RAM, 6 CPUs, at least 500 MB of free storage, a standard sound card, and up-to-date antivirus software
• Wired high-speed internet (Wi-Fi and satellite are not allowed)
• Two monitors
• A noise-canceling USB headset
• A webcam for certification
States where NexRep contracts with contractors:
NexRep partners with contractors in 31 U.S. states. Currently, there are no contracts available in AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, HI, IL, MA, MD, ME, MN, MO, NJ, NY, OR, RI, VT, WA, or WI. Contracting outside the U.S. is not permitted.
Flexible scheduling:
You choose your own schedule through a self-scheduling system within the client’s service hours, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET. Contractors must work at least 20 hours per week and should be available for part of the day on Mondays and Fridays due to higher call volumes. If you prefer fewer hours or cannot work those days, other NexRep projects may be a better match.
Compensation and benefits:
This remote opportunity pays independent contractors 13 USD per hour. After completing additional certification for more complex calls, you’ll receive a 250 USD bonus. This extra certification is expected to take place in January 2025, but the date may change.
Contractors who begin certification between November 18 and December 9 can earn extra holiday income. For each week from November 25 through December 21:
• 20–24 hours worked: an additional 30 USD
• 25–29 hours worked: an additional 75 USD
• 30 or more hours worked: an additional 160 USD
Example: Working 20–24 hours per week for all four weeks results in 120 USD extra, while 30 or more hours per week results in 640 USD extra, on top of regular hourly pay.
