We are seeking enthusiastic Italian teachers or translators to help enhance our interactive reading tool, which supports Italian learning through culturally rich, leveled, and fully annotated texts.

In this remote contract role, you will help improve the tools we use to create new Italian passages by automating parts of our grammar tagging process. Most tasks involve basic translation and identifying grammatical features (such as part of speech, person/number/gender, and similar details) using our provided guidelines. You will also be asked to join a small number of meetings to offer feedback and discuss results with the team.

This phase of the project is limited in scope and will require about 5–10 hours per week during February and March. However, as we expect to revisit this project in the future, we hope to find someone interested in continuing similar contract work with us over time.

Position requirements
• Native Italian speaker and writer
• Advanced English proficiency
• Ability to identify grammatical features in Italian (part of speech, person/number/gender, tense, etc.) with the help of guidelines
• Strong familiarity with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, file sharing, etc.)
• Availability for occasional Google Meet sessions during EST business hours
• Willingness to learn new technologies

Additional preferred qualifications
• Experience teaching Italian to English speakers
• Background in NLP tagging projects or similar work
• Degree in language teaching, applied linguistics, or a related field
• Writing or editing experience in Italian or another language
• Experience or expertise in teaching reading or writing
