Piton Labs is hiring a Senior Software Engineer on a full-time basis. We’re looking for someone comfortable with full-stack development, with particularly strong backend skills. Ideally, you’ll also have proven experience with cloud infrastructure. Experience in a startup—either as a founder or as part of an early-stage team—is a plus. We strongly prefer candidates located between GMT-8 (West Coast of the United States) and GMT-3, though candidates from other time zones may be considered case by case.
At Piton Labs, you’ll work with startups as well as large organizations to tackle their most complex technical challenges. You’ll navigate the uncertainty and complexity that come with software development, helping clients build products while clarifying what actually needs to be built. You won’t just execute tasks from a backlog—you’ll help define priorities and focus your efforts on the problems with the highest value for our clients.
We’re generally technology-agnostic, but most of our projects use TypeScript, React, and Go. We typically build cloud infrastructure on AWS, although some clients use other providers. You should have at least five years of experience with common web stacks, relational databases, and modern frontend technologies. Experience with the tools we mention is helpful but not required. You must be able to produce reliable, well-tested code consistently over the long term.
A typical week may include:
– Building complex user interfaces for web or mobile applications
– Designing and developing a serverless API layer for a new product
– Creating and deploying a cloud architecture using infrastructure-as-code tools
– Presenting new features to the client’s stakeholders
You’re independent and passionate about code. You enjoy solving problems and continuously developing your technical skills. You should have the following traits:
– Pragmatic: focused on solving problems and creating value, while innovating when needed
– Independent: able to take full ownership of a product or feature, with a clear understanding of both technical and collaboration aspects
– Highly experienced: at least five years in the field, with varied exposure to different projects and a commitment to continuous improvement
– Adaptable: able to evolve with technologies without being constrained by specialization
Remote work policy:
– Fully remote team, with no physical office
– Priority for candidates who have legal authorization to work in the United States
– Second priority for candidates based in Canada, Uruguay, or Paraguay
– Requirement to overlap 4 to 6 hours with United States Eastern Time on most days
– Digital nomads are welcome, with high flexibility on location
