Collabora is pleased to invite applications for our 2026 internship program. Our interns are paid to work full time on an Open Source Software project, contributing to tools and technologies used by real users.
Who we are
We are a software consultancy focused on connecting companies with the open source community. We combine extensive open source experience with insight into the challenges faced by businesses, non‑profits, and governments. Our technical expertise spans system integration and architecture, graphics, multimedia, web engines, and communications across various markets, including mobile, automotive/IVI, set‑top boxes and smart TVs, and other specialized embedded systems.
Our ideal candidates
We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are passionate about working on Open Source Software, even if they are not yet experienced developers. Candidates should:
• Be fluent in written and spoken English
• Show clear interest in the technologies we work with. We generally focus on the infrastructure behind desktop, mobile, or web applications, in areas such as the kernel, embedded systems, multimedia, graphics, XR, integration, packaging, web engines, system services, and toolkits. • Have skills in C programming, git, and some familiarity with Rust
• Ideally demonstrate previous contributions to any Open Source Software project, including community involvement
Applicants do not need to be students or recent graduates.
How it works
• Applications must be submitted by April 30, 2026. We review applications continuously and may extend offers to strong early applicants.
• Interviews for selected candidates will take place in May 2026.
• Start dates will be in September 2026, with internships typically lasting six months.
• Interns will be mentored by one or more of Collabora’s experienced F/LOSS developers as part of a development team.
• Collabora has offices in Cambridge, UK, and Montreal, Canada, but all interns work remotely from home, even if they live in those cities.
• The internship requires 40 working hours per week.
• Compensation will be discussed during the interview and depends on location and agreed hours.
