About the Role:
Planet’s international Accounting team is looking for a new Senior GL Accountant for EMEA & APAC to manage our books and join the global Finance team. This role can be performed remotely from any of the following countries: the Netherlands, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, or the United Kingdom.
The Senior GL Accountant reports to the International Controller and works closely with global teams across General Accounting, Tax, Legal, FP&A, and People to ensure that financial statements for the assigned entities are prepared and reported correctly and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (“U.S. GAAP”), as well as, where applicable, other relevant accounting standards.

Areas You Will Shape and Own:
– Oversee daily close and reporting activities for legal entities in EMEA & APAC, ensuring the books are maintained in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance.
– Prepare statutory financial statements and ensure VAT and income tax compliance across multiple countries.
– Ensure timely delivery of high-quality PBC requests supporting SOX controls, internal audit testing, the integrated U.S. GAAP audit, and regional statutory audits.
– Support process improvement initiatives within your scope, including new system implementations, mergers & acquisitions, and other projects.
– Ensure accurate and timely accounting, processing, and reporting of payroll/compensation, if required.
– Monitor regional entities, review variances, track issues through resolution during month-end close.
– Ensure compliance with “Internal Controls over Financial Reporting” (“ICFR”) under Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (“SOX”) for your areas of responsibility, including documentation and review of accounting policies and procedures.
– Support other Finance team members as needed on additional projects.
– Prepare financial statements, income tax provisions, and related reconciliations; strong knowledge of different tax structures and the ability to create journal entries to support intercompany agreements.
What You Bring:
– BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent qualification; ACCA/CPA/MBA preferred.
– 8+ years of experience in key Finance and Accounting functions.
– Strong hands-on mindset and proactive “can-do” attitude.
– Experience within the accounting function of a publicly traded international company.
– Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload in a complex, fast-moving environment with tight deadlines.
– Mergers & acquisitions experience is a plus.
– Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a service-oriented mindset.
