Overview
The Professional Services Engineer IV is a senior technical expert responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise Citrix XenApp and VDI solutions for customers. This role provides deep technical leadership across the full project lifecycle—assessment, architecture, deployment, migration, and ongoing enablement—while serving as a trusted advisor to both internal teams and client stakeholders. The Engineer IV operates with a high level of autonomy, drives complex engagements, and mentors junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design of scalable, secure, and resilient Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, and VDI architectures.
Develop high-level and low-level designs, implementation plans,test plans, and migration strategies.
Execute complex deployments, upgrades, and migrations of Citrix solutions including Delivery Controllers, StoreFront, Workspace app, Provisioning Services (PVS), Machine Creation Services (MCS), NetScaler,and profile management.
Lead large-scale customer engagements with ownership of project architecture, technical quality, deliverables, and timelines.
Act as the highest-tier escalation point for Citrix and VDI-related issues.
Provide expert guidance on best practices, performance optimization, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and operational excellence.
Partner with customer leadership teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Deliver workshops, design sessions, and knowledge-transfer activities.
Produce clear documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, operational guides, and executive-level summaries.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with project managers, solution architects, product teams, and other engineering towers on integrated solutions.
Mentor and coach Professional Services Engineers across the team, contributing to capability development and standards.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience delivering enterprise Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop or VDI-focused projects.
Expert-level knowledge of Citrix technologies: Virtual Apps & Desktops, Workspace Environment Management (WEM), Director, NetScaler Gateway, PVS/MCS, StoreFront.
Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory/GPO, AVD or other cloud VDI solutions, and supporting infrastructure.
Advanced troubleshooting skills across Citrix, VDI, networking, storage, and virtualization (VMware Required, OpenStack Desired).
Proven experience leading complex enterprise implementations and migrations.
Strong communication skills, including experience presenting to technical and executive audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Citrix CCP-V, CCE-V, or equivalent advanced certifications.
Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix Cloud, or hybrid cloud architectures.
Working knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell).
Familiarity with ITIL, service delivery frameworks, and enterprise project methodologies.
Intermediate knowledge of Vmware Platform with the ability to navigate vSphere and vCenter.
Intermediate knowledge of Windows Operation System
