As an MSSQL Database Administrator at Paymentology, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our mission‑critical databases. Your responsibilities include monitoring performance, resolving issues, implementing security measures, and planning for future growth and scalability.
What you will do:
• Work closely with the development team to design and optimize database schemas and configure SQL Server databases
• Manage all database administration tasks and improve overall database performance
• Maintain data integrity and availability through comprehensive backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
• Protect sensitive information by managing security, user access, encryption, and refining database security practices
• Monitor database performance and resolve issues proactively using advanced monitoring tools
• Provide on-call support when needed to handle urgent database problems
• Improve efficiency by creating automated scripts for maintenance and repetitive tasks
• Oversee database migrations, including cluster upgrades, version updates, and moves to cloud platforms such as AWS
What you need to succeed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
• 5–7 years of practical experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator
• Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and Python for automating maintenance tasks
• Familiarity with tools such as GitHub and Terraform
• Demonstrated experience in designing, planning, and executing database migrations, especially to cloud environments like AWS or Azure
• Knowledge of Redis and PostgreSQL is a plus
• A strong commitment to ongoing learning and development
Since you will collaborate with colleagues from around the world, fluency in English—both spoken and written—is essential.
As an important member of the technical team, you will be responsible for maintaining high availability and responding to critical incidents to ensure continuous system performance. This includes participating in an on-call rotation for 24/7 operations.
