JOB TITLE: Community Health Epidemiologist
WORK SETTING: Hybrid
CONTRACT END DATE: June 30, 2026
SALARY: 80,000 USD plus benefits

OVERVIEW
The CDC Foundation is seeking a Community Health Epidemiologist to support the Office of Statistics and Evaluation (OSE) within the Bureau of Community Health & Prevention (BCHAP) at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. This role provides epidemiological expertise for the Community Health Equity Initiative (CHEI) and for programs within the Division of Community-based Prevention and Care (DCBPC). Responsibilities include close collaboration with program and epidemiology teams in CHEI, the Office of Oral Health, and other DCBPC programs to address needs related to data, surveillance, and evaluation. Key tasks include literature reviews, survey development support, analysis of clinical and population-based surveillance data, participation in program evaluations, preparation of reports and data communication materials, assistance with grant requirements, and other duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• MPH in epidemiology or biostatistics
• At least two years of relevant epidemiologic or related experience
• Strong knowledge of epidemiologic study designs and statistical methods
• Proficiency in SAS and/or R for data analysis
• Experience in survey development and data collection
• Experience planning and conducting program evaluations
• Experience building and maintaining Tableau dashboards
• Familiarity with statistical methods such as multivariable linear and logistic regression
• Experience collecting data from public health programs and developing data collection instruments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and strong process orientation
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support primary data collection, including survey design, implementation, database management, and data cleaning.
• Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards to advance program goals.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of evaluation and analysis plans for the Office of Oral Health and other DCBPC programs.
• Conduct epidemiologic and statistical analyses using SAS and/or R with datasets such as hospital discharge data, mortality data, BRFSS, YRBS, YHS, and the Community Health Equity Survey.
• Assist program and epidemiology teams with grant-related activities, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Advise other epidemiologists on appropriate statistical methods and analytic limitations.
• Prepare materials for various audiences, including reports and data visualizations.
• Provide support to additional CHEI and DCBPC initiatives as needed.

SPECIAL NOTES
This role supports a developing public health program; therefore, responsibilities may shift as needs evolve. Any changes in duties require written approval from both the CDC Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to ensure optimal support of public health efforts in the state.

The position is currently hybrid, though the CDC Foundation may adjust this arrangement as needed.
