Director of Content – Full-Time Contract

About the Role We’re seeking an experienced Director of Content to own and optimize content strategy for our established data-driven website. Our site covers geographic and demographic data for countries, states, and places globally, serving millions of users seeking reliable population and location metrics.

This is a full-time contract position (40 hours/week) offering significant autonomy and the opportunity to build systematic processes around content operations while working with a small, technical team.

What You’ll Own

• Develop and implement SOPs for content updates, data refreshes, and editorial workflows
• Identify and prioritize user experience improvements for data presentation
• Keep analysis and insights current across our content library
• Create systematic approaches to content optimization based on performance data
• Collaborate with our development team to implement template and presentation improvements
• Build sustainable processes for both automated and manual content creation

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of editorial or content strategy experience
• Experience presenting data, data visualization, or working with data-heavy content
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to identify content performance opportunities
• Process-oriented thinking – you love creating systems that scale
• Comfort working with technical teams (you don’t need to code, but should be able to communicate technical needs)
• Editorial judgment combined with user experience intuition
• Self-directed with strong project management skills

Ideal Background Experience at data journalism outlets, research organizations, or content roles at data-driven companies (think Zillow, Glassdoor, news sites with strong data components, B2B SaaS with analytics focus).
