POSITION TITLE: Community Health Epidemiologist
LOCATION: Hybrid
POSITION END DATE: 6/30/2026
SALARY: $80,000 plus benefits

SUMMARY
The CDC Foundation is hiring a Community Health Epidemiologist to support the Office of Statistics and Evaluation within the Bureau of Community Health & Prevention at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The role provides epidemiologic expertise to the Community Health Equity Initiative and various programs in the Division of Community-based Prevention and Care. The position works closely with staff from CHEI, the Office of Oral Health, and other programs to meet data, surveillance, and evaluation needs. Key duties include conducting literature reviews, assisting with survey development, analyzing clinical and population-level data, supporting program evaluations, preparing reports and data communication materials, contributing to grant deliverables, and offering additional support as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• MPH in epidemiology or biostatistics
• At least two years of relevant epidemiologic or related experience
• Strong knowledge of epidemiologic study design and statistical methods
• Proficiency in SAS and/or R
• Experience with survey development and data collection
• Experience designing and carrying out program evaluations
• Experience creating and maintaining Tableau dashboards
• Familiarity with statistical methods such as multivariate linear and logistic regression
• Experience collecting data for public health programs and developing data collection instruments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supporting primary data collection, including designing and administering surveys, managing databases, and cleaning data
• Creating and updating Tableau dashboards based on program needs
• Assisting with evaluation and analytic plans for the Office of Oral Health and other programs
• Conducting epidemiologic and statistical analyses in SAS and/or R using datasets such as hospital discharge data, mortality data, BRFSS, YRBS, YHS, and the Community Health Equity Survey
• Assisting program and epidemiology teams with grant requirements, including data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Providing guidance to fellow epidemiologists on analytic methods and statistical challenges
• Developing reports and data visualizations for a variety of audiences
• Offering additional support to CHEI and DCBPC initiatives as needed

SPECIAL NOTES
This position supports a fast-moving public health program, and duties may change as needs evolve. Any revisions to responsibilities require written approval from both the CDC Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to ensure continued alignment with statewide public health priorities.

The role is currently hybrid, though the arrangement may be modified by the CDC Foundation if needed.
