ProPublica is an independent, nonprofit newsroom dedicated to producing investigative journalism that serves the public interest.
ProPublica is seeking an experienced writer to reshape our investigative work into a range of formats that align with the evolving ways audiences consume news. Over the past year, we’ve focused on presenting our reporting through formats such as explainers, service guides, reporter Q&As and key takeaways to better support our readers. This position is vital to expanding our ability to reach and engage new audiences.
We want someone enthusiastic about trying creative storytelling methods, able to collaborate effectively with reporters and editors, and skilled at drawing connections between stories to help readers understand the broader context.
In this role, you’ll work closely with teams across the newsroom to produce short-form newsletter sections and polished standalone pieces that add depth and vibrancy to our journalism. Candidates should understand audience engagement best practices and be capable of producing sharp, fast and accurate copy.
This is a full-time position reporting directly to the audience manager for newsletters, search and partnerships, working primarily with the newsletter team.
