ShopStyle, the leading product search engine on the web, is looking for an ambitious Backend Engineer to help build out the team. ShopStyle attracts over 10 Million monthly users. We’re building the next generation of social shopping with the best quality content and user experience in the market. Were looking for someone to join our team to build a fast and rich set of internal web applications for data analysis and administration purposes. Responsibilities:

• Design and implement REST APIs for use with different apps
• Write and maintain unit tests for these APIs
• Write Spark stream processing job or post processing batch job to pre-calculate data views
• Work with the DevOps team to define, build and maintain deployment infrastructure needed for the internal applications
• Contribute to weekly feature releases and code reviews

Requirements:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years core Java programming experience
• Strong understanding of OOP design principles (loose coupling, encapsulation, etc.)
• Knowledge of backend paradigms (multithreading, caching, performance tuning)
• Experience with MySQL, Apache/tomcat, Hibernate
• Passion for keeping up with new technologies and industry trends

Bonus:

• Experience with no-sql databases (Cassandra and/or MongoDB preferred)
• Experience with Javascript/Front-end technologies and super bonus for AngularJS
• Experience with writing Spark jobs (in Scala, extra points)
