Remote Year is a program for global professionals that travel for a year with interesting people while working remotely (12 cities, 12 months). Remote Year organizes accommodations, shared workspace, travel, and events in each city for the group.

Network Engineer Lead Role Description

The Network Engineer Lead will be responsible for setting up and maintaining the networks at our various global coworking spaces. For cities that Remote Year have not operated in, the Network Engineer Lead will be on the ground prior to the group’s arrival to ensure the integrity of the network and be on the ground for support at least the first 3 days of the Remote group’s arrival.

Responsibilities include:

* Ensure the integrity of existing coworking spaces and accommodation networks * Travel to coworking spaces/accommodations to ensure current network / hardware can support our internet needs * Advise coworking spaces/accommodations on changes needed to network/hardware or add Remote Year hardware as needed * Configure networks for Remote Year pop-up coworking spaces * Work with local internet provider to setup hardware and configure Remote Year private networks for all Remote year pop-up coworking space * Be on the ground when a new Remote group arrives to handle any possible networking issues * Be the company PoC for any internet questions/issues * Help staff troubleshoot issues at coworking spaces and accommodations * When on the ground with the group, help individuals with internet issues * Support the group throughout: be on call 24/7 for support where and when needed 

Qualifications:

* Excellent English speaking ability and interpersonal skills * Background as a Network Engineer * Experience in setting up medium to large networks in various environments * Passion for travel and helping people
