Postmates runs one of the largest real-time delivery fleets in the country. Building a software platform that is reliable, scales and stays agile under demanding product needs is a serious technical challenge. Postmates isn’t just another ad platform or mobile app for delivering static user generate content. We have real customers paying real money for a real service, all under an hour. You do not want to explain to your hungry friends why they couldn’t get their Little Star pizza delivered last night because the database failed.

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for the day to day technical operations of the Postmates platform. You’ll be responsible for responding to failures to reduce the impact to our customers and couriers. You’ll all also be responsible for designing and implementing the monitoring and availability for our core platform to ensure we don’t have any failures to begin with.

Our platform is currently running on Amazon Web Services. We make extensive use of Python, Go, Django, Celery, Postgres, Memcache, all managed with SaltStack.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and maintain technical operations for the Postmates platform

  • Key participant in our 24×7 on-call rotations

  • Respond to systems failures and outages

  • Design and implement scaling, performance and availability enhancements

  • Systems and Application Monitoring

  • Provide systems design expertise to other Engineering staff

  • Linux operating system

  • Networking

  • Security

  • Databases

  • Application scaling and optimization
