Portable is a web innovation company based in Collingwood, Melbourne. We were founded in 2005 and today work across multiple sectors delivering meaningful solutions to real problems (often this involves creative thinking, digital strategy and building web applications). We like working with progressive organisations that want to make a difference, and as a result we take on, large scale career defining infrastructure projects for governments, not-for-profits and startups. We are passionate about open source and have a user-centric approach.

We’re looking for a full stack developer to help us out with some of the projects we have flowing through the studios at any one time. We need somebody with all round technical ability who enjoys working on complex problems.

Some things that we’d like you to have:

• Strong and broad skills across the back-end (LAMP)

• Sysadmin type skills, you’ll be able to set up an AWS server and configure and use things like Jenkins, Vagrant etc.

• Ideally some front-end skills too, HTML5, CSS3, JS/jQuery.

• Experience with various frameworks and CMS such as Symfony, Drupal and WordPress.

• A passion to keep learning and trying new technologies.

• A desire to be a champion for technology in a business.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and people skills

• Experience working with Agile methodologies.

Remote work is also an option for the right candidate.
