We are looking to add a Software Engineer to our Software Development team. The Software Development team is responsible for:

– Building and maintaining internal tools to automate tasks for the business
– Building integrations between custom applications and SaaS products
– Building custom applications for Deft clients

We believe in using the right tool for the job and are ambitious about learning new technologies so we can continue to create modern applications.

Our ideal candidate for this role is a full-stack developer. They must take ownership of their work and deliver a high quality of code and functionality. The candidate must be passionate about software development and learning new tools. As a member of the software development team, you will be expected to engage with other developers, designers, and business analysts to create an effective and supportive working environment.

Do:

Participate in software development team activities such as daily standup and weekly team check-ins. Provide status updates for work-in-progress.
Present one or more technical proposals for given a set of requirements, outlining the pros and cons of each proposal
Work with business analyst and stakeholders to define technical requirements for a business need
Develop software solutions to technical and non-technical problems alike

Deliver:

High quality code that is clear, maintainable, efficient, and follows industry best practices
Configure Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as CloudFormation, AWS-CDK, Terraform, Ansible playbooks, Dockerfiles, Kubernetes manifests, etc
Provide thoughtful peer review considering code quality and maintainability, security, functionality, architectural decisions, and adherence to best practices
Maintain documentation (including diagrams, flowcharts, architectural decisions) for training and knowledge transfer
Troubleshoot software issues and debug large codebases; prepare root cause analysis for high impact incidents
Improve system quality by identifying issues and common patterns, and developing standard operating procedures

I’m interested…is this the job for me? We are looking for:

3 or more years writing software in a professional context
Knowledgeable in one or more of the following programming languages: Node.js, PHP, Python, Perl
Experience with a front-end framework such as React, Angular, Vue or Svelte
Understand (and adherence to) concepts and best practices of RESTful web APIs
Outstanding all-round communication skills

Bonus Points:

Experience setting up CI/CD tooling and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Experience integrating with S3, DynamoDB, Amazon Cognito, and lambda functions.
