The Color Design Fellowship is a paid 3 month immersive program that provides design practitioners with the opportunity to have real world impact while honing the skills they need to thrive in this career. Our Color Design Fellow will partner with design mentors in a rotational program to gain hands-on experience across multiple product areas. Fellows will come away from the program with portfolio pieces that speak to all stages of the design process; industry connections; and the potential for a return offer from Color.
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week commitment for 12 weeks that will start in March 2022 . You can work remotely from anywhere within the United States, but must be authorized to work in the US. You will be required, within three business days after beginning employment, to provide verification of your identity and legal authorization to work in the United States.

What will I be doing?
At Color, we make real-world health experiences easy to use, accessible, and empowering. You’ll work with our growing team of product designers, content designers, user researchers, product managers and software engineers to craft experiences that empower diverse populations to stay safe and get the care they need. The program is designed to be flexible depending on your level of experience, but all fellows will receive exposure to the tools and skills needed to kickstart their design career.
What skills do you need?
We select candidates based on a combination of experience and outlook, and encourage you to apply even if you don’t yet have all of the skills listed below. We’re excited to work with the right candidate and provide instruction where needed.
You will:
Get hands-on experience working on an end-to-end design project at the cutting edge of health technology
Work alongside Color designers and receive 1:1 support and guidance from a dedicated design mentor
Learn user interface (UI) design and prototyping tools, as well as how to use a component library
Participate in bi-weekly design working sessions to advance your practice
Apply design and problem-solving skills to real-world, high-impact problems
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
3+ years of work experience from any industry. Our ideal candidates will have minimal or no formal experience in a product design role.
Passion for user experience (UX) and creating positive, inclusive experiences for all people
Some experience with design, demonstrated through personal and/or professional projects, or coursework.
Ability to communicate effectively and work independently or with a team to find creative solutions to problems
Experience or familiarity using design tools. These might include Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Powerpoint or Keynote
Desire to grow and take on new challenges
