Do misaligned elements on a web page physically bother you? Do you believe that typography can make or break a design?

Barn2 is looking for a talented designer with a strong eye for detail to join our team. As our primary designer, you will ensure that everything we produce reflects a consistent brand identity and is backed by excellent design. You will also have the chance to create elements for our WordPress plugins, which are used by more than 50,000 customers worldwide.

We are a leading provider of WordPress plugins, founded in 2010. We are a profitable, fast-growing company with a distributed team of 16 people working remotely across multiple continents and time zones.

In this role, you will collaborate with the Directors, marketing team, and software development team to elevate our company presence. Using the existing Barn2 brand guidelines, you will design a variety of materials, including web page elements and templates, product mockups, email newsletters, social media ads, and graphics for blog posts, YouTube videos, and social media.

We offer flexible hours (full-time or part-time) and a salary range of $40,000 – $50,000 USD, depending on your skills and experience. If you’re motivated to produce high-quality designs at a high volume with minimal supervision, we’d love to hear from you.

**Things you’ll be doing**

**Brand materials:**
– Featured images for blog posts and YouTube videos
– Images within blog content for tutorials and documentation
– Web page templates for the Barn2 website
– New page elements for the Barn2 website
– Product mockup images for our plugin sales pages
– Email template design
– Images for social media posts and ads
– Banner images for different uses
– Sourcing and designing icon sets

**Product design:**
– Designing select UI elements for Barn2’s plugins
– Visual design for plugin settings and options in the WordPress admin
– Promotional elements within the WordPress admin

**You will need:**
– Knowledge of design methods, tools, and principles, including Adobe Photoshop
– Strong experience editing images, including resizing and optimizing for fast page load times
– Fluent written and spoken English
– Experience creating a broad range of graphics like those required for this role
– Experience with website design and best practices, including UX design and accessibility
– Basic knowledge of the WordPress CMS—for example, creating a WordPress site, adding blog posts, managing content, or installing plugins
– Willingness to build on the existing Barn2 brand—improving it without starting from scratch
– Commitment to pixel-perfect design down to the smallest details
– Ability to create clear, accessible visuals that represent complex software simply
– Understanding of how technical constraints affect design decisions, and willingness to adjust accordingly
– Openness to working with design agencies on larger projects, such as bigger rebrand initiatives

**Nice to have:**
– Ability to create video mockups of our software products
– Experience using Google Optimize for A/B testing

Note: This is a design-only position. Coding experience and HTML/CSS are not required.

**You’ll report to**
Your direct manager will be Katie, our CEO. You will also work closely with colleagues across all levels, especially within the marketing team. We will support you with what you need to succeed in the role.

**Salary and benefits**
We offer a competitive salary and flexible benefits package:
– Full-time or part-time hours (negotiable)
– Salary of $40,000 – $50,000 USD, based on experience and location. You’ll have a clear, guaranteed path to increase your pay to the top of the range, with defined and achievable milestones.
– Remote working with a flexible schedule that prioritizes work-life balance
– A yearly training budget of $1,000 and access to off-site training and conferences
– 25 days of holiday, or your country’s legal minimum if higher
– Performance-related bonus
– A friendly, supportive, and open-minded team culture where sharing ideas and feedback is encouraged
– Strong opportunities for personal and professional development. As our only in-house designer, you’ll have room to grow and help shape the role around your skills and interests.
