Piton Labs is looking to hire a full-time Senior Software Engineer. We need someone who can contribute across the entire stack, with a strong preference for candidates who excel in backend development. You should have solid experience with cloud infrastructure. Experience with startups—either through personal projects or by working at an early-stage company—is a plus. We strongly prefer candidates based between the GMT‑8 time zone (U.S. West Coast) and GMT‑3, though we may consider other circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

**Responsibilities and technologies**

At Piton Labs, you’ll work with both startups and large organizations to solve their most challenging technical problems. You’ll manage the uncertainty and complexity of software development, helping clients build their products and clarify what they truly need. Instead of handling fixed assignments, you’ll help set priorities and focus on the issues that matter most to our clients.

We don’t require a specific technology stack, but most projects use TypeScript, React, and Go. We usually use AWS for cloud infrastructure, though some clients use other providers. You should have at least five years of experience with the core stack for web applications, relational databases, and modern frontend frameworks. Familiarity with our preferred tools is helpful but not required. You should consistently produce dependable, thoroughly tested code.

A typical week may include:

– Developing advanced user interfaces for web or mobile applications
– Designing and building a serverless API layer for a new web product
– Creating and provisioning cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools
– Sharing new features with client stakeholders

**About the ideal candidate**

You are self-motivated and genuinely enjoy building software. You like tackling problems and improving your technical skills over time. Key qualities include:

– **Hands-on:** you focus on solving problems and delivering value, using creativity when needed
– **Independent:** you take ownership of products or features and understand both technical and human factors
– **Broad experience:** you have 5+ years of experience across a wide variety of projects, continually strengthening your skills
– **Adaptable:** you stay current with new technology and aren’t limited to a single specialty

**Remote work policy**

– Our team is fully remote, with no physical office
– We prefer candidates located in the United States who are legally authorized to work
– Second preference for candidates in Canada, Uruguay, or Paraguay
– The position requires 4 to 6 hours of daily overlap with Eastern Time (U.S.)
– We welcome digital nomads, and your location can be flexible

**Why work with us?**

– Competitive salary: $140,000 USD for U.S.-based candidates
– Strong quarterly bonuses linked to company performance, typically $2,500–$5,000
– Four weeks of paid vacation
– Fully remote work
– Excellent work-life balance—you’ll work with fast-moving startups while still keeping your weekends
– A flexible culture with few meetings and minimal coordination needs, supported by trust in your ability to deliver
